what on earth

Once upon a time, there was a grizzly bear.
The grizzly bear loved to sit by the river, hunting and eating fish all day. It was her favorite pastime, other than sleeping.
One day, a single wolf ventured into her part of the forest. The wolf, too, hunted for food, but he preferred to eat small animals, like squirrels and mice.
"He is a strange wolf," the grizzly decided, despite minimal knowledge of a regular wolf's diet. She had a hunch; she just knows these things. But, since the two animals did not cross paths, she made no move to banish him, and let him be.
The wolf continued to hunt, and so did the bear.
Soon, the salmon in the river died, and the wolf decided that he would try a fish. "After all," he reasoned, "the grizzly bear has eaten so much, and has grown bigger than me. Perhaps I, too, can become as strong as her." So he took a bite out of a dead salmon.
And immediately spat it out.
"Disgusting!" the wolf howled, and the bear heard him. She came to the other side of the rushing water and found the wolf sulking.
"Kind wolf, what has distressed you so?" the eloquent grizzly roared across the water. The wolf quickly straightened his back, attempting to make himself look high and mighty - to no avail, of course, as the bear was huge and towering, even over the distance of the river. He slouched once again.
"I cannot find any more food on this side of the river," he lied.
"Then why can I see a squirrel shivering above you upon the tree branch?" the wise grizzly replied.
The wolf looked up, and saw that, indeed, a squirrel stood quivering on the branch above his head.
"That is the last one, and I only pray I have not eaten another, so that they can create more."
"You selfish beast!" the bear chided. "You must learn to adapt the forest's ways."
"I cannot!" the wolf denied. "I have been created to eat certain animals, and any other way is abhorrent!"
"You foolish boy!" the bear chided. "The forest is thousands of years old, and has taken that long to grow. You are much younger, and will die, unlike the forest; you must learn to take what is given to you, nothing more, and nothing less."
But none of this matters, because only a moment later, they were levitated into alien research facilities and dissected.

OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT FUCKING PISSES ME OFF? WHEN TEACHERS DON'T GIVE YOU IMPORTANT INFORMATION. I LITERALLY CAN'T FUCKING ANSWER HALF OF THE QUESTIONS ON THE STUDY GUIDE BECAUSE OF THIS MOTHERFUCKING BULLSHIT TEACHER'S WAY OF EXTENDING HER CLASSES THROUGH A STUPID ASS APP I'M NEVER USING IN THE FUTURE. YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO PAY TO EXPERIENCE IT TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL, AND I'M SURE THAT WOULD BE FINE BUT SHE WON'T EVEN PAY BECAUSE SHE "DOESNT WANT US TO PAY" LIKE BITCH.
